FAQ

Mobile devices – charging on the move

(Q) As I will have my mobile devices with me (phone, tablet), how can I ensure they don’t run out of battery during the longer coach / site trips ?

(A) It is not coincidental that this is first on our list ! Being avid travellers ourselves, we at Eternal Greece are well aware of the need to have our mobile devices sufficiently charged – as well as of the disappointment and inconvenience when they are not ! We thus carry a number of charged power packs (USB/micro-USB) with us during our tours which can be shared free of charge (no pun intended) between our travellers whenever the need to charge a device arises however we might not be able to serve everybody at the same time. Please remember to charge all devices the previous night. The sheer interest and beauty of the places which will be visited (as well as their number) pose an excellent opportunity for those of us who are camera-minded, so please remember to bring sufficient memory cards.

WiFi on the move

(Q) Will I be able to use WiFi on the move ?

(A) WiFi-enabled coaches are not yet the norm, however in some of our group programmes we can arrange for a WiFi hotspot through a mobile-telephony link whilst in the coach. As the link is of limited bandwidth, the upload/download speeds will also be limited. Over time, we expect coaches to become increasingly WiFi-enabled.

Financial Protection

(Q) Will I receive any financial protection when I book?

(A) In compliance with the UK Package Travel, Package Holidays and Package Tours Regulations 1992 an insurance policy has been arranged with Travel & General Insurance Services Limited (tagis), to protect customers’ prepayments in the unlikely event of our financial failure and paid in respect of:
• non-flight inclusive packages commencing and returning to the UK
• the ground handling aspects of packages where the customer is responsible for arranging travel to the destination
offered in this brochure/literature/document/on this website (subject to the terms of the insurance policy), for:
• a refund of such prepayments if customers have not yet travelled, or
• making arrangements to enable the holiday to continue if customers have already travelled, or
• repatriation of customers to the UK or their home country as may be applicable.

Group programmes – guides and group leaders

(Q) Who will accompany us during the group tours ?

(A) Specialist, licenced guides always accompany all our group programmes. Our guides have been carefully selected on the strength of not just her/his academic and local knowledge but also for their enthusiasm, friendliness, pro-activeness and problem-solving ability. Furthermore, Eric Cauchi, director of Eternal Greece and Greece specialist, is delighted to participate, in conjunction with the guide, as a group leader, advisor, narrator and story-teller, in one group programme every month, round the year.

Airport transfers

(Q) How do people get to the first hotel, at the start of a trip?

(A) We meet our travellers at Athens International Airport or at the airport closest to the starting point of a tour, depending on the particular tour, for transfer to the hotel for the first overnight. In some cases and depending on the type of the tour, self-drive travellers pick up the hired car at the airport but we will still meet them upon arrival. Some group tours start at the airport, thus we meet them and then they board the coach to proceed with the tour programme.

The reverse takes place on the day of departure.

These airport transfer costs are included in our tour prices, unless self-drive packages both from and to the airport are involved.

Single travellers

(Q) Are your tours suitable for single travellers?

(A) Absolutely ! Single travellers are more than welcome and can both enjoy the programmes as well as discuss and share experiences with other group members – indeed, our tours are excellent opportunities to make new acquaintances and friends with people of similar interests, while sharing the inspiring experiences of our tours.

Type of co-travellers

(Q) What type of person goes on an Eternal Greece Ltd holiday?
(A) The group programmes of Eternal Greece Ltd focus on specialised, thematic tours and thus travellers share common interests, even though they may come from different backgrounds. One of our priorities is to help create an informal, easy-going atmosphere which will go a long way towards fomenting interaction, discussions and friendships.

Experiencing the local Culture

(Q) Will I get a chance to experience the local culture?

(A) We at Eternal Greece are driven by our passion to share all the exciting and enriching facets of the people, culture, civilisation, history and nature which, together, have been defining Greece throughout its long and illustrious history. Being operationally based in Greece and supported during the group tours by group leaders and guides that have specialised in Greece, we strive to create and pursue as many occasions as we can to bring our travellers in touch with the local people and culture.

Late bookings

(Q) Do you accept late bookings?

(A) We do our best to accept late bookings, please bear in mind however that there may be extra to pay for flights and hotels if you book within 8 weeks of departure; it is our recommendation that you try to book as early as you can.

Emergencies

(Q) Will there be a member of Eternal Greece Ltd staff on hand at all times?

(A) At Eternal Greece your comfort, convenience and safety are at the very centre of our attention and care. In the event of an emergency and if you are a participant in a group programme, your group leader will be on hand to assist you in all ways possible. If you are an independent traveller (self-drive or bespoke-programme, for instance) you will have an emergency phone number of staff at Eternal Greece who will be at your disposal round the clock.

Eating in Greece

(Q) Where do we eat on an Eternal Greece Ltd tour?

(A) Wherever possible, we eat out in local tavernas (typical Greek restaurants). We feel that a good meal is always a central to a happy tour day, so we choose the venues with care. Vegetarians are catered for basis prior arrangement.

Which costs are included in our tours and which are not

(Q) What is included in the price of the tour?

(A) There is no across-the-board answer here as we offer various group as well as individual self-drive and bespoke programmes.

In general, none of our tours include the air travel to and from Greece.
Group programmes typically include airport transfers (where applicable), the group coach throughout the programme, the accommodation basis half-board plus one meal a day at a taverna or restaurant, the cost of the guide / group leader and the tickets to archaeological sites and museums.

For non-group travel (self-drive and bespoke programmes), please refer to the specific entries in our website.

What are not included, as a rule, are drinks and gratuities.
In all cases, please refer to the specific package in our website for programme/package-specific information.

Health

(Q) Will I need any inoculations before I visit Greece ?

(A) As per the guidelines laid down by the UK Department of Health, you do not require any specific inoculations for Greece.
